Executive Assistant to the CIO

Position Summary

The Administrative Support Services group provides support to a large central information technology department that enables the University’s excellence in education, research, and outreach through the delivery of world-class information technology solutions and resources.

The Executive Staff Assistant will provide executive administrative support to the Chief Information Security Officer (CIO) exercising exceptional organizational and communication skills, sound judgment, and the ability to prioritize task while maintain strict confidentiality. This position will also maintain general administrative operations of the Office of the CIO for MSU s Information Technology organization.

Duties will include scheduling and maintaining calendars, coordinating and preparing materials for meetings and recurring events, creating and editing presentations, spreadsheets, financial ledger and documents, arranging travel and processing reimbursements electronically, compiling and analyzing data and reports, reviewing and directing mail and email including acknowledging, organizing and relaying sensitive information; maintain a filing system to support the Office of the CIO and supervisor, coordinate the general office operations (400 Computer Center) for the Office of the CIO, interpret and summarize materials in order to keep the CIO and other senior leadership staff informed of relevant information; develop and maintain positive relationships with various offices across campus in alignment with university priorities and mission, act as a liaison with department administrative staff and IT senior leadership by leading regular administrative support cohort meetings. 

This position will professionally interact with faculty, staff, administrators, federated IT leadership, IT Executive Leadership Team, students and external customers as well as serve as an interface with other MSU IT staff members on behalf of the CIO.

Minimum Requirements

Knowledge normally acquired through a high school education with course work in word processing, typing, shorthand, and grammar; five to eight years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive University work experience in maintaining account ledgers, word processing, spreadsheet, database, and presentation software; editing, composing correspondence, taking dictation; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
