Under direction of the IT Business Management Section/Project Management Office, Information Technology Supervisor II, the Information Technology Specialist I functions as project/program and technical resource providing quality services to the Department of State Hospitals (DSH) information user community. The incumbent will serve as a member of a project team and also works independently performing information technology (IT) business analysis functions to ensure effective management of IT projects as well as compliance with key policies such as the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and state information security policies.
The primary duties of the IT Specialist I lie within Business Technology Management elements such as: IT policy and program development, IT portfolio management, IT procurement, process reengineering, business analysis, research and development, strategic planning, product and/or delivery strategy.
This is a Sacramento-based position. Incumbent will have minimal to no travel requirements but may be asked to go onsite to one of DSH’s five locations if needed and with prior notice.
