Functions as specialist, providing purchasing and inventory management support to a specific area of hospital inventory supply/equipment. Duties include supply chain operations and logistics functions to include receiving, distribution, picking, put-away, product delivery and par/point of use replenishment and stocking as well as input of patient charges as directed. This position also is responsible for working with departmental end users/customers, ensuring an effective and streamlined supply chain experience.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Maintains a clean and welcoming Gift Shop environment, dusting and straightening as needed. Observes customers to ensure the security of merchandise, and re-stocks merchandise as needed. 25%
  • Follows University policy regarding handling of cash, ensuring accurate change to customers and the accurate processing of payments for charge cards, payroll deduction and merchandise returns. Accurately balances cash drawer; assists in training new staff on cash register procedures; and ensures the cash register is observed and secured at all times. 25%
  • Effectively monitors stock levels, conducts weekly inventory of high volume products, and prepares and submits purchase orders to the Manager in a timely manner. Assists with creating artisctic merchandise displays. 25%
  • Effectively greets and assists customers, providing various gift shop services and making deliveries within the medical center as requested. Assists with the training of new and volunteer staff to Gift Shop functions. 25%

Required Qualifications:

  • Recently demonstrated inventory management experience in a retail environment
  • Previous cashiering or cash handling experience
  • Must possess the skill, knowledge and ability essential to the successful performance of assigned duties
  • Must demonstrate customer service skills appropriate to the job
  • Must be available for occasional travel as needed
  • Experience in creative store merchandising
  • Demonstrated retail experience with the ability to effectively provide information about products and services
  • Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the Health System


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of UC policies and procedures
