Post Coordinator/Assistant Editor (AE)

We’re seeking a Post Coordinator/Assistant Editor who shares our vision and is ready to help execute it from concept to completion. You’ll be a key player in overseeing our exclusive slate of projects, combining technical editing expertise with project management skills to ensure every detail of the process is seamless, every timeline is met, and every story resonates with the highest level of impact.
In this role, you’ll be responsible for managing post-production timelines, handling resource allocation, providing hands-on editing support, and overseeing licensing of archival media. Your contributions will ensure the smooth progression of projects and uphold the high standard of excellence that defines LAUGH CRY WOW’s storytelling.
Key Responsibilities:
- End-to-End Project Oversight:
- Manage Production Timelines: You’ll keep every project on track, from the first cut to final delivery. Your organizational focus will ensure that deadlines are met, and any potential delays are flagged early.
- Resource Allocation & Utilization: You’ll ensure the efficient allocation of editors, assistant editors, and equipment, making sure every project has exactly what it needs to succeed. Balancing workloads to optimize output is key.
- Client Liaison: Serve as the point of contact between LCW and clients, keeping communication transparent and ensuring that expectations are aligned and exceeded.
- Archival Media Licensing: Manage the sourcing, acquiring, and licensing of archival media from research to delivery, ensuring compliance with legal requirements and maintaining the integrity of each story.
- Workflow Optimization: Continually improve workflows to maximize efficiency without sacrificing quality. You’ll streamline processes, eliminating friction and allowing the creative team to focus on what they do best.
- Assistant Editing:
- Editing Support: Dive directly into the editing process, assisting with ingesting footage, assembling sequences, and implementing client notes. You’ll also handle technical tasks like syncing footage, exporting edits, editing, basic color correction & sound mix, and more. You’re not just supporting the editing process—you’re shaping the stories.
- Multi-Tasking Between Projects: You’ll juggle multiple projects in various stages of development, production, and post-production, ensuring no project is left behind and every detail is accounted for.
- Media Management: Organize and maintain project files, ensuring that all media is properly logged, backed up, and accessible. The smoother the organization, the smoother the creative process.
- Transcoding & File Management: Handle the transcoding, exporting, and file management needed to ensure seamless workflow processes from editing to final delivery.
- Physical Post-Production Asset Management: Track and oversee all physical assets in post-production, ensuring everything is accounted for and accessible.
- Proactive Problem Solving:
- Anticipating Technical Challenges: You’ll identify potential roadblocks before they arise and solve them with efficiency and creativity. You’ll keep the wheels of production turning smoothly, ensuring no detail is overlooked.
- Adaptation & Flexibility: Things change quickly in production. You’ll be quick on your feet, ready to pivot and adapt to ensure the project stays on course, no matter what arises.
- Collaboration & Team Support:
- Supporting the Team: You’ll be the backbone of the post-production team, providing guidance, motivation, and structure to editors, assistant editors, and everyone involved. You will foster an environment where creativity thrives within the guardrails of deadlines and deliverables.
- Eye for Detail: Your focus on detail will elevate the quality of the project. You’ll ensure that every piece of media meets technical and creative standards, ensuring a seamless final product.
Must-Haves:
- Post-Production Experience: Extensive experience overseeing multiple projects in post-production for film or TV, with an in-depth understanding of the entire workflow from start to finish.
- Adobe Premiere Expertise: You are proficient in Adobe Premiere, able to handle editing tasks independently while also supporting the larger team.
- Archival Media Knowledge: A strong understanding of archival media licensing and clearance processes, ensuring compliance and proper usage of media.
- Organizational Precision: Your ability to manage multiple projects, timelines, and resources is second nature. Nothing falls through the cracks under your watch.
- Communication Skills: Clear, thoughtful communication is essential in this role—you’ll be a key point of contact internally and externally.
- Proactive Problem-Solver: You stay ahead of the curve, identifying potential issues and addressing them before they become problems.
- Attention to Detail: Your meticulous approach ensures that no aspect of a project is overlooked.
Nice-to-Haves:
- Experience with Digital Asset Management (DAM): Familiarity with asset management systems to keep track of media throughout production is a plus.
- Collaboration with Editors: Experience working closely with editors and assistant editors in fast-paced environments will help you thrive in this role.
