The Institute for Security Governance (ISG) seeks a Supervisory Lecturer to serve as the Senior Principal for the Practice and Capability division of the Institute. The Senior Principal reports directly to the Institute Director. The Senior Principal leads the functional faculty division comprised of teams conducting education and advising in the topics of defense acquisition; logistics; conflict, terrorism, and civilian protection/civilian harm mitigation; security governance, civil military relations, and women, peace and security; maritime security; emergency management and resilience; climate and environmental security; peacekeeping and exercises; and cyber capabilities. The Senior Principal is supported by three first-line supervisors. The division consists of approximately 30 Government faculty employees. The Senior Principal leads the education mission of the Institute and supports the advising mission.
This is an Excepted appointment for an initial three years, which may be renewed every one, two, or three years, indefinitely. This position is in Monterey, California, at the Institute headquarters. A relocation incentive may be available.
This position is in the Department of Defense (DoD), Defense Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA), Defense Security Cooperation University (DSCU), Institute for Security Governance Institute for Security Governance (ISG), Practice and Capability Division.
DSCA's mission is to advance U.S. national security and foreign policy interests by building the capacity of foreign partners in order to encourage and enable allies and partners to respond to shared challenges.
DSCU is the DoD’s center of intellectual life for security cooperation. DSCU delivers education, training, research, and analysis to the U.S. Security Cooperation Workforce and the institutional capacity building to our allies and partners to meet the current and future global security cooperation mission.
DSCU supports DSCA’s congressionally directed mission of training, educating, and providing for the long-term development of the SC Workforce and enabling partner nations to effectively, efficiently, and responsibly manage their security institutions. Through the work of DSCU, U.S. and partner nation personnel become security cooperation community practitioners and responsible, effective members of security establishments committed to the rule of law, civilian control of the military, and respect for democracy and international human rights.
The Institute for Security Governance advances U.S. national security and foreign policy objectives through the application of programs and activities that enhance partners’ institutional capabilities to address shared security challenges. ISG is a DSCU capacity-building functional institute that serves as DoD's primary institutional capacity building designer and implementer, in addition to being an international schoolhouse, operating within DSCA's broader security cooperation mandate to train, educate, advise, and support foreign partners. Located at the Naval Support Activity Monterey in Monterey, California, ISG executes over 600 partner-facing activities annually.
